Fantasy Team: Jamal Adams Trade and Marshawn Lynch

I love safeties and I love this trade. That’s why I am going to make this trade as well. What I do not like is giving up a lot of trade capital, which is why I am going to give up a lot of players, to fill the gaps the Jets have at WR, CB, DE and because of the trade S.

The real Adams Trade

So in the real trade the Jets traded Jamal Adams and a 4th 2022 for the Seahawks 1st and 3rd 2021, a 1st 2022 and Bradley McDougald. I am going to disregard the 4th pick in 2022, because there is no Bradley McDougald. That leaves Adams for two 1st round picks and a 3rd rounder.

My Trade

To get straight to the point, there is only really one player where I have a comparative trade on my team: Frank Clark. He was traded for a 1st and a 2nd rounder.

So at the moment I still have to make up for a 1st and a 3rd rounder, but I am up a 2nd rounder. A first round pick of the Seahawks is worth about two 2nd rounders, so it is fair to say that I still owe a 2nd and a 3rd rounder.

The package I am putting together is 4 players. The three spots I said I would fill for the Jets were WR, CB and S. The three players I will give up: David Moore (WR: WR2 at best, WR4 at worst), Holton Hill (CB: talented young corner on his rookie deal, who I predict could break out 2020) and Sheldrick Redwine (S: a talented young safety also playing on his rookie deal, can play nickle too). These three are young, talented players, who can help the Jets in developing a top squad.

On top of that I am giving them one of the top 25 LBs in the league: KJ Wright. He will help them develop the positive team culture they are working towards.

Analysis

So all in all the trade looks like this: Jamal Adams for Frank Clark, KJ Wright, David Moore, Holton Hill and Sheldrick Redwine. Let’s be honest, that is a little skewed. However, two first round picks and a third rounder is a lot to account for. In giving the Jets both players in their prime and young players for their developing team I thing that the deal is very fair.

As for my team, the trades in the secondary are compensated by Adams and off-season addition Dunbar (CB). At WR I added Hopkins in a trade and some more players in the draft so loosing Moore is ok. At LB I want to play with two guys and five in the secondary. Next to Bobby Wagner I have the choice between three talented young LBs in BBK, Troy Dye and Jeremy Chinn. Letting KJ go is a loss, but I am giving the next generation a shot. Frank Clark is the biggest loss. However, there are a few veteran DEs on the market and I have around 40mil in cap space. I hope I can find someone there, otherwise I also added a couple of players in this draft, most of all AJ Epanesa who can play a similar role.

Marshawn Lynch

He is still not signed so I will take him out of my team again, but I hope that he signs with someone soon so that I can add him too.
